The Forgotten Past

-A lot more, this list will update as the story goes further.Prologue:Nigiri was born in the land of Moonlight Kingdom, where the stars represent every kind word that has been heard. His main goal in life is to remember his past, which seems to be impossible. Little does he know that the answer has been above him every single night. There are 8 islands and all of them have one thing in general, a theme. The Moonlight Kingdom is one of those islands.CHAPTER 1:After his childhood, Nigiri hasn't been able to remember anything about those first thirteen years. Now he is 15. Everyday he works hard in a restaurant, in hopes of remembering something trough the food, the only thing that gives this weird, misty feeling, only to find out nothing. One day that changed."Nigiri! Over here..."
Huh? Who could be calling my name in the middle of the night, near a fountain? I mean, I don't have any friends and why do they know my name? He thought.He looked around, he was alone under the night sky. No one was there except... someone certain."Behind you, idiot!"Nigiri turned around and saw a young Maine-Coon cat with beige and brown colored fur. "H- How do you know my name?" He asked the smiling feline who answered after a minute of silence. "Oh- yeah! I'm Strawberry! I know you from the restaurant called 'Pawsome Dinner', I once saw a piece of paper on the restaurant floor, you were on it and were referred as The Hard Worker of the month!!! How amazing, the food was so great and just when I was about to leave, I saw you serving some good-looking meals to the customers!" Strawberry smiled widely at Nigiri."Oh! Were you looking for me? If you have some business to do with the restaurant, I can deliver the information tomorrow!" He looked at the other cat, waiting for an answer. "No no! I was just looking for you to maybe chat! You seem like a very cool person!!" Strawberry exitedly said.The two talked for a long while happily and started to get to know each other better, until they noticed it was already three in the morning "Oh gosh sorry! I didn't pay attention to the time! Only 2 hours until your work starts!?" The smaller cat said, looking down at his paws with regret and sadness.
"It's fine! I don't usually sleep much anyway." He slightly smiled at Strawberry. "Alright, if you say so! Let's meet here after your work, okay?" Strawberry said as he slowly stood up. "Sure, friend!"After Strawberry left the area, Nigiri heard something from the park, it sounded like someone was hiding from him. Before he could process what's happening, a fox jumped out of the bush with an evil-like grin. It started running towards Nigiri and he quickly jumped out of fear. The fox chased him for a while before he realized it was gone. The world slowly faded into darkness. Nigiri opened his eyes and the first thing he saw was the starry sky. He looked to his left and right.Now he noticed that Strawberry was standing in front of him with a worried look on his face. "What happened to you? You were screaming and suddenly laying on the ground, I turned around as soon as I heard you!" Strawberry said. Nigiri was still not fully awake from whatever he just experienced, and a few words were said. "Fox...no... please...""Fox...? But the Waterdrop Kingdom is far away from here? I think you had a panic attack..." Strawberry stated. "Y-yeah... I'll have to go to work soon. Thank you for caring, I really appreciate it!" Nigiri said, still in poor condition. "No! It's not safe for you to work yet, you look like your gonna faint any second!" Strawberry looked at Nigiri with eyes full of worry. Nigiri had a feeling that his new friend is a great one. "Thanks...but I don't know how my employer would react if I didn't come to work." He looked at the sky, seeing the stars shine brightly. "Don't worry! I can tell them to not be confused, Pawsome Dinner is not far away, just a little walk and i'll be there!" Strawberry said with a cheerful look on his face.After twenty minutes, Strawberry had returned from his trip to the restaurant. The other cat was sitting in a tree, facing the sea. The sky was brightening, sun rays hitting the road. Strawberry enjoyed the fresh morning air for a while before slowly standing up and placing his paws on a path near the tree. "Hi Nigiri! Your employer told me to say that you can have this day off!" Nigiri snapped out of his thoughts and turned around to face Strawberry. "Thank you so much for delivering the message. I guess it was fate that led me to this fortune."CHAPTER 2:The two friends decided to hang out while Nigiri was still a little sick. Strawberry wanted to make sure that Nigiri was gonna be okay."Have I told you about my past?" Nigiri said a little nervously. "Nope! But you can do that now!" Strawberry answered, his blue eyes shining brightly in the daylight. "Well, the thing is that I don't remember it... I don't remember anything about my first thirteen years, never have remembered and it's really worrying me. I feel like something bad happened..." Nigiri meowed, looking at the sky, his tail wagging. "Hmm... that's definetely odd, do you think the panic attack is related to this somehow?" Strawberry asked. "I haven't really thought about it, but if it is so... it has something to do with foxes." Nigiri said with a serious tone.After the two discussed some things about remembering, they decided to visit the Starburst lake. The lake is a quiet place, nobody really visits it, but it is beautiful. The stars shined brightly and a gentle breeze filled the area. The nature was unbelievably pretty. "Do you hear that?" Nigiri asked. Strawberry looked around and one of his fluffy ears quickly turned to face the direction of a spooky sound. The two turned around and saw a little ghost kitty looking at them with a sneaky grin. It slowly approached them, walking from the woods. "WHAT THE MEOW IS THAT???" Was all that Nigiri heard from his friend before they stood up and sprinted away from the mysterious creature. A few seconds passed and it felt like an hour. "Hey come on! Please don't be like everyone else, always running away from me even tho I mean nothing bad!" A cat yelled from the forest.Nigiri and Strawberry stopped and turned to face the cat with fear. They saw a young cat with light-brown fur and purple eyes. "H-Hi, I'm Maple! Sorry for scaring you guys away. It's just my little ghost buddy!" The ghost mentioned was hiding behind Maple, it slowly peeked, carefully moved and was now sitting next to Maple. Maple looked a little shy and anxious. The two relaxed and introduced themselves."But...how is it possible that this ghost is real? I thought magic was just a rumor." Nigiri asked nervously. "Anything is possible, you just have to believe!" Maple said cheerfully. That made Nigiri think of his plan to remember his past. "If anything is possible, I'll just have to believe that I can do it...?" He thought, but soon snapped out of his mind. The three chatted the for two hours before Maple got a good idea. "What if we set up a campfire and eat something? I'm getting a little hungry." Both agreed and luckily they had some snacks with them."And then the scary zombie ate the bunny!" Maple was telling a ghost story, it seemed to make them all a little nervous and scared. They weren't aware of the little ghost's plan. The ghost can't speak, but it can make very creepy sounds, and so it did. "AAHHHHH" Strawberry screamed at the ghost kitty, he was really scared of the story and that's why the ghost made him panic. Maple was trying hard to hold his laugh, Nigiri was too and soon Strawberry looked at them with a face which looked like he was trying to say; "Not funny" The night was well spent and after Nigiri returned to his house, he immediately fell asleep.CHAPTER 3:Nigiri woke up to his alarm. "Ugh... well at least I can see Strawberry and Maple after work." He thought He quickly got up, ate breakfast and did everything else necessary. It was five in the morning, he was running to Pawsome Dinner, arriving kind of late. He didn't even remember that it was an important day."Where is he?" Someone in the restaurant asked an another worker. "Shh! I see him from the window!" The door opened and Nigiri walked in, and froze of amazement. "HAPPY SIXTEENTH BIRTHDAY!" Everyone shouted at the same time, there was Strawberry, Maple and two chefs, Aquakat and Planty. "You guys did all this for me? And Strawberry and Maple came all the way from the other side of the city?" Nigiri said, he looked stunned. "Of course! Friends are meant to be there for each other!" Maple replied. The day in the restaurant was good, not many customers and Nigiri, Strawberry and Maple spent time in the restaurant, they ate Sushi and other delicious things. "Has Maple heard about your past?" Strawberry asked.After explaining and eating the food, Maple realized something. "Where is my ghost?!" He suddenly heard a noise behind his chair. "WHAT!!?" He slightly jumped and his friends could not hold their laugh anymore. "Now you're the one to get scared!" Strawberry laughed. "That's true! And no one even told you anything scary!" Nigiri stated. Maple joined the laughter and the restaurant was filled with pure joy.Strawberry returned home, he needed to work on a song with his sister, Valentine. Her perfomance was tomorrow and they havent done much yet. It was a really stressful feeling. "Valentine? Are you here?" Strawberry asked. "Damn bro you ruined my recording." Valentine stressfully answered. "Oh- sorry... how is the song going?" Strawberry tried to change the topic. "Not too good, because of you, that was my best take until uh yeah!" SighThey somehow managed to complete the song in one day, it wasn't the best in Valentine's opinion, but it will do. "Anyways where were you! I needed to do more than half of it by myself!" She asked with an angry face. "First, I was hanging out with my friends. And second, you are the artist, not me. You are supposed to work on your own songs!" After a while, Strawberry was too tired to talk, and fell asleep soon.The next morning was too soon in Strawberry's opinion. He took his phone and browsed the kitternet for a while. Now playing: kittydog - MAX LVL FIXATED!!He had planned to hang out with Maple and Nigiri today. He turned off the lights and left the house. The sun was really cheerful and bright. "Hi Maple!" He said. "Hey! I noticed that the leaves are slowly starting to turn orange! It's so amazing!" Strawberry could feel the exitement of Maple. He knew that Maple really liked fall and Halloween. Nigiri saw them and arrived at the meeting spot. The three spoke about a few different topics and then they sensed something. "Do you both sense that too? I feel like something is happening... I'm so curious, gotta check it out." Maple said just before they heard screaming near them. "What on earth? Let's go check that out." Nigiri confidently meowed.They were searching for the sound's source. "I have a bad feeling about this..." Strawberry whispered. A few seconds later Nigiri's vision started to blur and he fell down.Flashbacks:"NIGIRI! DON'T GO THERE!" A cat screamed. Was that...my sister? Wait...I have a sister? He thought. It was too late to back out, all he saw was endless waves of water splashing all around him. Nigiri was in the sea. Alone. No one was there to help him.CHAPTER 4:It was dark. He couldn't breath. But then a light flashed and all he saw was white wings and two paws reaching out to him.Then he opened his eyes. "Are you okay?!" He heard a familiar voice. It was Maple. "Am I not in the ocean anymore?" He asked while breathing heavily. Maple and Strawberry looked at each other, not knowing what Nigiri was talking about. "Huh? You must have had a weird flashback again. Don't worry, you're not in the ocean and you never were."After a long while he was able to stand up. They all were slowly walking to Pawsome Dinner, all of them already forgot about the scream that was heard earlier. Nigiri was so tired but he couldn't fall asleep yet, they had to eat something and deliver another message. Even the ghost was helping Nigiri to stay awake. "Welcome to Paw- oh! What happened to him?!" Aquakat was the first one to speak. "He had a panic attack, we don't know why, but he was talking about ocean?" Nigiri was too tired to speak so his friends told the news to Aquakat. "Just as he was supposed to... at 0.43 am..." The small chef whispered to himself so no one could hear. "Kat! We got work to do!" Planty, the other chef stated. "Okay okay! Alright so you three can eat here for free. We have to go to the kitchen now!"They enjoyed the food and chatted for a while, but suddenly something happened in the building. All the lights turned off, seemed like a power outage. Planty ran out of the kitchen, "We'll fix the problem, I suggest everyone to leave the building so it's easier to work on the electrics"About ten minutes later, the group was walking back to their homes, until they heard something loud from the ocean. The waves were forming into a tsunami. The storm was gaining strength and power. Nigiri stepped back and his ears went down. Strawberry was in panic and stepped on a sharp rock, he whined in pain and the others tried to calm him down. Maple observed the tsunami while he helped Strawberry. Other cats had also noticed the tsunami. The city was filled with screaming and desperate yells. "Hey, we really need to go, can you walk?" Maple asked. "Yeah I think so." Strawberry answered. Quickly they left the road and ran towards the inner city. The tsunami was near and no time could be wasted.The screaming was now louder and Nigiri took a look behind them. "Quick! The tsunami is only a few seconds away from the beach!" Nigiri yelled. When they were far away from the beach, they stopped running and looked towards the tsunami. Their faces were filled with fear and shock when they saw a cat with dark fur and blue wings flying above the ocean. Even though they were at least two kilometers away, they could hear the cat speaking. "Silence, Moonlight Kingdom!"The cats of the city were now silent and looked up in the sky. "It's been a decade since you have seen me. Do you even remember me? I shall stop the tsunami for a while, but don't you even dare to think this will end yet. I am Midnight, the same one who won the fight with this kingdom's guardian. 10 years ago."
Everything that was heard was silent whispering. Everyone was in shock, no one knew what to do. Until a powerful white light flashed and made Midnight disappear, the tsunami was also gone.The three opened their eyes and stared at the now bright sky. But then they saw it, the guardian. "I am not dead, and never will be. The Moonlight Kingdom is now in peace." The voice spoke. The guardian dissappeared and it seemed like everything was back to normal. "I have so many questions." Nigiri said.
"I think it is over now, we need to help other cats in the city!" Maple stated.CHAPTER 5:They returned to the beach, it was a terrible sight. Cats were trying to clean it up. They were lucky that the guardian had stopped the tsunami before it could turn into a massive disaster. Even thinking about the city underwater made Nigiri feel weak. Suddenly he remembered something, the scream that was heard before he had a panic attack last time. What had happened to that cat? That was his question. He realized he had been standing on the ground, in his thoughts. The three were soon done helping the other cats, it was already sunset.While Maple was walking home from his work, he saw a familiar face. "Hi Valentine! You look...sad? Is something wrong?" Maple asked her. Valentine's eyes were half open, and she was walking slowly. "Strawberry has gone missing. I haven't seen him in a few days. I've been searching for hours today!"
She looked down, her stress was visible. Maple nodded and asked her to follow him since he has a place in mind. When they finally arrived in Pawsome Dinner, Aquakat was looking like he was already waiting for them. "Hey Maple! Something has happened...again." AquaKat looked at them and then closed his eyes.

"Well, first of all, you must be looking for Strawberry." It almost felt like Kat was reading his mind? Maple looked at him and answered "Yeah, do you know where he is?" The look on his face was full of sadness. "The thing is... Nigiri is also looking for him, me and Planty haven't seen him either, perhaps they are in the same place?" AquaKat said. Planty entered the room, he was rushing towards the exit. "Planty, what's wrong?!" Valentine asked. Planty turned around. "Quick! Come with me everyone!" They were confused, but followed him. When they were outside, Planty turned around and explained."When I was in the kitchen, Nigiri sent me a message. He said that he found Strawberry laying on the beach of Starburst Lake, but he didn't wake up! Does anyone know where that is?" Planty explained. "Yes! I met Strawberry and Nigiri there! I'll go there." Maple answered with fear in his voice.It was getting late, but Maple finally arrived. The nature was calming, but this was not the time for that. "Nigiri? Are you here?" He heard his voice echo in the quiet forest. No answer was heard. Maple carefully placed his paws on the dust, and continued searching for his friends. About an hour was spent, and he found nothing. He was getting a little scared now, Nigiri said he would be here. He decided to call Valentine. "Hello! Did you find them?" Valentine asked. "No... I'm getting really worried, I don't even want to know what is lurking in the woods, it's so dark!" Maple answered.He heard something. "Sorry Valentine, I'll have to end the call." He looked around. But the only thing he saw was darkness and the moon. He closed his eyes for a second and when he opened the, again, Strawberry was infront of him. "HOW DID YOU GET HERE!?" Maple asked, Strawberry had definetely scared him. "Sorry, I just thought this would be funny!" He giggled. Soon Nigiri showed up. "Hey! I'm glad that nothing bad happened. We should head back tho, Valentine and the others could be worried." He stated. "Right, let's go." Strawberry continued.CHAPTER 6:As they were walking back, Strawberry told them about a cafe. "When I was little, my cousin, Muffin and I used to always go to a specific cafe after school. We always ordered the same donuts, they are so tasty! Muffin is a little younger than me. He is very troublesome..." He sighed. "We haven't seen each other in a while, we used to hang out much more when we were younger! I can't believe he's already in high school. I wonder how he's doing." Strawberry sighed. "We could visit the cafe tomorrow? Do they sell donuts?" Maple suggested. "YES LETS DO IT!" Strawberry exitedly meowed. Nigiri smiled at them and they continued walking."Is everyone okay!?" Valentine worriedly asked as they saw each other. "Yeah! Maple found us and we walked back!" Nigiri answered. "But, what exactly happened there." Maple quietly asked. Strawberry and Nigiri looked at each other with worry. "Strawberry started feeling weak and suddenly fell down, he woke up a few minutes later but didnt feel too good." Nigiri told them. "Yeah, I'm okay now tho, I don't know what it was about but i'll have to be careful." Strawberry continued. After they said their goodbyes, they walked back home.The next morning Maple woke up to his ghost trying to drag him even though it cannot interact with the physical world. Maple was still tired, but quickly remembered their promise to go to the cafe. He got ready and left his house."Hey Maple! Over here!" He turned his head and saw Strawberry and Nigiri waiting for him at a nearby park. "I'm so exited! I wanna see what they sell nowadays!" Strawberry meowed. As they enter the cafe, they see a young cat yelling something along the lines of "Why is there salt in my tea?" They don't pay a lot attention to that but it's still hilarious.Soon Strawberry spots a familiar face. "What!? Muffin? How are you?" He asked. The last time Strawberry saw him was years ago. "Oh hi Strawberry! I've been having problems lately that's for sure." Muffin looked like he was gonna pass out and just when Strawberry was about to ask what bothers him, the cafe waitress walks to their table. "Hello! I am Pastry, and I will take your possible orders today!" Strawberry is sure about the fact that she also looks familiar, but doesn't mind it. After they place their orders, Strawberry starts wondering why Muffin looks so sad. "Hey Muffin, what has been bothering you lately?" He decides to ask. "First tell me who are these other cats?" He suspiciosly looked at Nigiri and Maple. "Oh! Right, they are my new friends, I met them around a month ago!"
